It’s Christmas time yet again, and it’s time for all those influencers and tv ads to make you feel like you are failing. Failing at being that fun parent this Christmas season. Failing at having all the time to do all the 50 activities and events. Failing at buying the most expensive gifts your children want. Failing because you aren’t looking forward to all those family get-togethers.
But I am here to tell you, GREAT JOB!
Great job for:
Being PRESENT at just one event where you put all your time and energy into.
Great job for:
Being PRESENT for buying those place and bake cookies and still having a great time with your kids.
Great job for:
Being PRESENT for having a tree up before the 25th and it getting decorated.
Great job for:
Being PRESENT for getting just one item off your kids list and watching their eyes light up opening it.
Great job for:
Being PRESENT at any of the get-togethers you CHOOSE that you feel relaxed at.
Just Be Present in the Moment
Being present for your children and involved without the overwhelming feeling or anxiety is way more important than anything else the internet or tv is telling you.
You don’t need to bake from scratch cookies with homemade icing to decorate only to stress over the cleaning & all the ingredients involved; when all your kids want is an involved parent to throw some cookie dough on a sheet and eat them late at night for fun.
You don’t need to drive to five different neighborhoods to look at Christmas lights, when a slow drive through your neighborhood with some hot chocolate on a cool night, windows down, singing Christmas songs is enough.
It doesn’t take much to make our children happy, because when it comes down to it, they just want parents who are truly present & smiling in the moment with them.
