It’s often said that “the days are long, but the years are short.” As a mom, I feel this deeply. One minute you’re rocking them to sleep and the moment, they’re running out the door with shoes they picked out themselves and a heart full of dreams you didn’t even know had taken root.
Some days, the pace of motherhood feels like a blur. Between laundry, school runs, meal prep, and late-night worries, it’s easy to go into survival mode—just pushing through to the next task. But I’ve been learning, slowly and sometimes painfully, that God didn’t design motherhood to be rushed through.

🕊 God Is in the Ordinary
In Psalm 118:24, we’re reminded:
“This is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.”
Not tomorrow. Not next week. This day.
Motherhood is full of ordinary moments—but those moments are not meaningless. They are sacred. Changing diapers, wiping faces, folding little socks—these are acts of love that echo the heart of Christ. And when we choose to be fully present in the moment, we are not just parenting; we are worshiping.
👣 They Won’t Stay Little
There’s something about watching your child grow that brings joy and heartache all at once. You cheer them on as they reach new milestones, but part of your heart aches with the passing of time. That’s why it’s so important to slow down in every moment.
The truth is, we won’t get these moments back. We won’t remember every mess or tantrum, but we’ll remember the snuggles, the silly jokes, and the way they looked up at us like we were their whole world.
🙏 A Call to Be Present in Every Moment
Jesus often retreated from the crowds to simply be—with the Father, with His friends, in the stillness. He invites us to do the same.
To be present.
To sit with our children, not just beside them.
To listen—really listen—to their stories, even if they don’t quite make sense.
To see the spilled milk and sibling squabbles not as interruptions, but as opportunities to model grace.
🌼 Trust God with the Growth
One of the most beautiful (and hardest) things about parenting is that we are not in control of the outcomes. But we can trust the One who is.
Living in the moment doesn’t mean ignoring the future—it means surrendering it to God and embracing the gift of today. When we walk in faith, we don’t have to fear how fast time moves. We trust that God is shaping both us and our children, day by day.
💛 Final Thoughts
Mama, slow down. Look into their eyes. Laugh with them. Pray over them. Thank God for the simple, beautiful gift of now.
Because one day, these “ordinary” moments will be the ones we treasure the most.
